[edit] Image copyvio
Could you explain how Image:Sx70.jpg which you uploaded is identical to the image at http://fragment.biz/WordPress/wp-content/uploads/sx70.jpg ? Also on a google search. If it is a copyright violation, it will be deleted. Tyrenius (talk) 22:12, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- he says nothing about not using the image. doesn't that make it usable?Landcamera900 (talk) 22:15, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- If no statement is made about image or text, assume that they are non-free and fair use. Please read Wikipedia:NON-FREE. nat.utoronto 22:39, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- ok thank you, I did int know
The image source has to state a specific licence such as GFDL or a creative commons one. You cannot put this on the image page, if the source doesn't state it. Please remove the notice from the image page, if the source hasn't given that specific permission. Otherwise fair use has to be claimed, but it can't be claimed for a replacable image. Images of these cameras can presumably be taken as models still exist, so I don't see the justification for fair use. Tyrenius (talk) 22:48, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- I take it these images are also a copyvio and the permission was not stated on the site where you found the photos:
- Image:Model 95.jpg
- Image:Auto350.jpg
- If it was stated, please put a link to the relevant page on the image page. Otherwise the images will be deleted as a copyvio. Please be very careful what you take from web sites. There is a clear notice on the upload page that in general you should not to do so. Thanks. Tyrenius (talk) 00:20, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
www.eastman.org/.../htmlsrc/mP762100002_ful.html "The contents of this site, including all images and text, are for personal, educational, non-commercial use only." and http://www.flickr.com/photos/timmythesuk/447729571/in/pool-camerapedia/
- Sorry, we don't accept "non commercial" permission, which both of those sources specify, so the images can't be kept. They don't qualify for fair use either, as they are replacable, i.e. someone can take a photo of the cameras and release it with GFDL or similar licence. Please be very careful about uploading images. Tyrenius (talk) 00:49, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Signature
As a courtesy to other editors, it is a Wikipedia guideline to sign your posts on talk pages, user talk pages, and WikiProject pages. To do so, simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments. Your user name or IP address (if you are not logged in) and the date will then be automatically added along with a timestamp when you save your comment. Signing your comments helps people to find out who said something and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). For further info, read Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. Thank you. Tyrenius (talk) 22:49, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

When you make an edit please fill the edit summary for what you did. It makes finding changes much easier (amongst other reasons). Cburnett (talk) 23:52, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:SX-7012345.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:SX-7012345.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ten Pound Hammer • (Broken clamshells•Otter chirps) 17:47, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Polanoid.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Polanoid.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 20:23, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi Landcamera - adoption should be fine, but I'm off on holiday soon til Jan 4th, and I don't want to start til then. If I forget to get back to you in the new year, drop me another message on my talk page. In the meantime, let me know if there's any areas of editing you're particularly interested in getting up to speed on and I'll point you in the right direction. Cheers.
