[edit] Range of Quetzal

Hi. Parece que tengo el honor de ponerte la primera pregunta sobre un cambio que hiciste aquí. (Te trato de tú porque todos lo hacen en la Wikipedia en español.) Why did you change the range of the Resplendent Quetzal to "northern" Central America? It's found in Costa Rica, which I would think is part of southern Central America. Thanks, JerryFriedman 18:57, 16 February 2006 (UTC)\

I just moved this text to Resplendent Quetzal. —JerryFriedman 02:51, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Paul Rodriguez

Hi, he personally emigrated so the Mexican emigrants cat is not really redundant. Mexican Americans is usually for people of Mexican descent. Arniep 02:10, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rizzo

Hello Lancini87,

You have add Category:Italian-Mexicans to Sócrates Rizzo (who by the way happen to be called El Griego)...are you sure that he is an hyphenated Mexican? and in any case are you sure he is an italian-Mexican?

Regards, Abögarp 17:12, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

I fully agree with you, the nick doesn't automatically make him Greek; also his parents surnames doesn't automatically make him an hyphenated Mexican. I believe we shouldnt categorize people as an X-Mexican unless we have sources. There have already been many discussions about this. If you dont mind i will remove that category from Rizzo's article. (he may be italian-mexican but we are not sure)

Are you sure about the removal of the banker category, and the changing of the Cuban category to Cuban-American? I had been under the impression that Cuban-Americans were people born in the US but of predominately Cuban descent. --maru (talk) contribs 23:05, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Mx-sport.gif

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Mx-sport.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 03:48, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image on Elsa Benitez

Hi, Lancini.

I noticed you readded the image Elsa_Benitez.jpg to the Elsa Benitez article. I'm afraid that image can't be use on that article due to copyright problems, and that was why I removed that image on the first place.

We can use magazine covers in some special case, under the Fair Use provision. But not this one. Magazine covers can be used to illustrate an article or section about the magazine itself, but to illustrate the person (or thing) depicted on the cover. The text on the {{magazinecover}} template state this on its body.

Thanks for all your valuable contributions to Wikipedia, keep on the good work. I'm available to anything I may be helpfull. Best regards, --Abu Badali 21:32, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, i do not agree with you. Theres THOUSANDS of biographical articles with Magazine covers, and no one has said anything about it. Besides, the image IS fair use and that's all that matters. --- Lancini87 21:39, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Lancini, I agree with you when you say there are THOUSANDS of biographical articles with Magazine covers. But this doesn't make it correct. As I have said before, the {{magazinecover}} template itself make this clear when it says the image can be used only to illustrate the publication of the issue of the magazine in question. It can not be used to illustrate the person depicted on the cover.
Note that there no such thing as a fair use image (as in the image IS fair use and that's all that matters). The way we use the image is what matters. That image could be fairly used on an article about the magazine, but no in an article about Elas Benitez. I really hope you understand the point. Feel free to contact if you need. Best regards, --Abu Badali 18:38, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
Sorry Abu badali, but the image must be removed becuase it is listed at Category:Articles that include images for deletion. I have removed it. Kilo-Lima|(talk) 19:16, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Immigration to Mexico

Lancini87 if it is not too much to ask, can you take a look at the article Immigration to Mexico. I see you made some edits in some Mexican related articles so I figure this one may interest you. Can you just take a look at the information and look at the Immigration Policy section in this version[1]. Another user contributed to that section but do you know anything about the laws? I am skeptical about it. If you can help at all, thanks in advance. M P M 07:43, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Category Vandalism

Raymond Cruise 11:48, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Raymond Cruise 11:00, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Chat

How you doing Lancini? please stop changing the Puerto Rican people cat. As you may not know, there is no such thing as "Puerto Rican-Americans" since all Puerto Ricans have been U.S. citizens since 1898. See: Puerto Ricans. Thank you Tony the Marine 23:44, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

  • I know what you're talking about but, unlike other people Puerto Ricans even those born in the United States consider themselves "Puerto Ricans" and are considered to be Puerto Rican by our people unlike other groups (just ask any "Boricua"). To those born in the U.S. I suggest that you also add the cat. "American people" or whatever. other wise you're going to have to delete the cats "Hawaiian", "New York people", so on and so fourth. As I stated before Puerto Ricans are not considered Puerto Rican -American. Tony the Marine 00:04, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't get back to you sooner (I went out). Anyway it is obvious to me that you do not understand about us Puerto Ricans and the pride that we feel about us indentifing ourselves with the island our parents came from but, that's O.K. Let's reach a compromise. Let's include both cats, therefore no offense will be taken. One thing however, you ask any person of Puerto Rican descent and they'll tell you that they are first and foremost Puerto Rican. Tony the Marine 04:10, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

  • O.K., so will you agree to a friendly compromise? We'll include both cats, much the same as in most bios about Jewish people wher they include both cats. ex. cat. "Jewish" and cat. "Jewish-American". Then we can shke cyber hands and let the issue rest. So, what do you say? Tony the Marine 05:03, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

It's been nice interacting with you. You showed a lot of class and I truly believe that you're an asset to the Pedia. Tony the Marine 05:08, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Samurai Shodown Images

I've reverted your peculiar image uploads on these articles. I'd previously considered uploading those images originally--but they have tags on them, all of which signify its lack of a fair use claim.

On the uploads in question, the images are very rare to find in such high quality and the fact kawaii dream has them and has specifically marked them is suspect; I regard such images that are not in wide use about the internet and with such high resolution with particular suspicion. For me this is non-negotiable. -Randall Brackett 06:01, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Flavio Lucio Pontecorvo

Is there some reason I shouldn't send the stub article tha you wroye about Flavio Lucio Pontecorvo to CSD for speedy deletion? The article contains nothing about him that is notable. I have been able to find that he is the nephew of Bruno Pontecorvo, but no reason why that factoid would make Flavio notable in his own right.
