[edit] Mexican Italians

Hello Lancini87. I think you misread the begining of the reference article, that states 3,000 original. It goes on to say "we might infer that in the late twentieth century there are as many as 30,000 people of Italian descent in Mexico". I don't disagree with your comment as there probably are more than 30.000 Italians in mexico, but I could not find a better source. I would be interested in a more presice number myself. Whatever the number, it is still small compared to other countries in the Americas. On another note, based on your username and the fact you are from Mexico, I am guessing you are an Italian Mexican yourself? Mariokempes 20:14, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

The fact that the mexican government does not collect data makes it difficult to estimate the number of italo-mexicans in Mexico. Nonetheless the article states that the original population was only 3.000. Then it goes on to say... "each of the original eight Italian communities was inhabited by around 400 individuals. If the expansion of Chipilo, Puebla, is representative of the Italian Mexican population as a whole, we might infer that in the late twentieth century there are as many as 30,000 people of Italian descent in Mexico". This is a strict extrapolation of figures and cannot be even close to perfect, but it is the best I could find to date. My personal feeling is there are probably more... perhaps as many as 50-80,000 but I have no basis for this. If you could find something it would be of great benefit to the article. Mariokempes 16:33, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Oh yes, one other thing... many regions in Italy (such as the Kingdom of Naples which included all of south Italy) were under Spanish domination. It is possible Italians made their way to mexico (as they did to other parts of the new world) as "Spanish subjects" and were not classified as "italians". This would, however, be prior to 1860 and the numbers could not have been great. On another note, I do know that some wealthier Italians (most with business interests) made their way to Mexico city in the 1970s- to escape a perceived political crisis (eurocommunism, red brigades, etc.). Most returned, but I am sure some have taken root. Do you know anything about this that you could add? I will put this in the talk section of the article to see if anyone can shed some light. Mariokempes 16:43, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

You are correct! I think I finally understand what you have been saying all along- that, based on extrapolation, the original 3.000 now number 30.000 (to my defence, however, the wording in the article does not make this clear!). Nonetheless, I don't think there has been a large number of italian immigrants since then. Do you know of any figures? Feel free to ammend the article to reflect what you are saying (as a real Italo-Mexicano you are certainly entitled!). Mariokempes 19:59, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability of Ricardo Martinez

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Ricardo Martinez, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Ricardo Martinez seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Ricardo Martinez, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit] Domingo’s nationality

Lancini, there is no evidentto prove that Domingo is Mexican, despite have been living there practically half of all his life – and that means he is not and obviously cannot be considered as “Mexican”. If you have any evidence for it, please include it in the article for reference or not, the category of the “Mexican” will always be questioned by many people. As far as the law is concerned, he is Spanish. Wiki must set the correct information and not misleading the fact just because he was brought up in Mexico. My cousin was born in my country and has been living in UK for more than half her life, but I can never say she is British until she received her British citizenship recently – this is one real- life example. Thanks. - Jay 03:53, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Nbmxlogo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Nbmxlogo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:13, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Amigas y Rivales and Manuela Ímaz‎

What's the reason behind constantly removing the template from the article. The template is already in other articles, why can't it be in this one??? WIKIVUE Detroit (talk) FRI OCT 26 2007 3:16 PM EDT —Preceding comment was added at 19:17, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Ugh, its not necessary! Let it be just in the main article, for the novela. What? are you planning on doing the same for every novela there is? Lancini87

[edit] Bajo las Riendas del Amor

I've moved Bajo las Riendas del Amor back from "Reindas" to "Riendas". I think you might have moved it in the opposite direction [1]. If I have completely screwed up then please accept my apologies. I did check that esmas.com, imdb.com and my Spanish dictionary all agree on "riendas". Ttwaring 22:17, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Dossetti.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Dossetti.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:22, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed deletion of El Arsenal

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article El Arsenal, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? MBisanz talk 04:48, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
