Sorry, I omitted the Belgian flag by mistake. --Michkalas 21:21, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Flags of countries, which are not members of the EU
We shouldn't include the flags of countries, which are not members of the EU. Hence I just removed the flag of Russia in the line of the Russian language. If we would continue to include the flag of Russia in this table, we would have to include tons of other flags as well (e.g. USA for English, Switzerland for German/French/Italian, lots of flags for Spanish, Brazil for Portuguese ... well, you got my point, right?) - If you should disagree, let's discuss here first, please. [edit] Sortable Table
I've taken the liberty of converting the table into a sortable form using the "wikitable sortable" class. This allows users to be able to sort the data, so they can now see which languages are most often spoken as Mother Tongue, second langauge etc. However the layout of the table had to be changed to achieve this, as the sorting won't work properly with multiple rows in the header.
It's now wider than it was, and as it's a template this makes the pages it is used on look different. I personally think the benefits of making it sortable outweigh the layout changes, but I know some may disagree.
Should it be reverted back to the more compact form, or should it stay as it is? Maybe someone can alter it further to make it more compact yet still clear what the figures mean? --DomUK 16:27, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Catalan and the Italian flag
User:MikeZ asked for sources that prove Catalan is spoken in Italy. Actually, the sardinian city of Alghero (L'Alguer in catalan) is the only place in Italy were catalan is spoken.
