Warning templates should always be used with the "subst:" keyword, as strongly suggested on Wikipedia:Template substitution. They are shown without subst here to reduce the display space occupied by this table, not to encourage their use without subst. For example, type {{subst:uw-vandalism1}}~~~~ (not {{uw-vandalism1}}) to warn common first-time vandals.

The levels of templates are:

  1. Assumes good faith
  2. No faith assumption
  3. Assumes bad faith; stern cease and desist
  4. Assumes bad faith; strong cease and desist, last warning

[edit] Usage

Usage Output
{{subst:Lang0}} Welcome, and thank you for correcting spelling on Wikipedia! However, both spellings of the word you "corrected" are acceptable.

Please familiarize yourself with American and British English spelling differences before making further spelling corrections to articles. Wikipedia has 7,277,643 registered users on this English Wikipedia. These editors use different versions of English including American English and British English. The list of dialects of the English language goes on and on.

When many styles are acceptable, avoid changing from one style to another unless there is some substantial reason for the change. It is only acceptable to change between American and British spelling if the article's topic is particular to one country or the other, or if you are making the article internally consistent.

More information is available at Wikipedia's Manual of Style. Enjoy your time on the encyclopedia. Thank you.

[edit] Shortened

I made this Template Shorter than the other ones

Template:Lang0 Template:Lang1 Template:Lang2 Template:Lang3 Template:Lang4 Template:Lang5

And more like a First level Good Faith warning.

I still think the Warning should be shorter but I didn't want to make too Radical a change.--E-Bod 03:03, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Lang0-n

I made Template:Lang0-n So we can have it more personalized.--E-Bod 03:59, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Shorten Even More

[edit] How about the Above

If you are assuming Good Faith then they Didn't Actually know both were correct. Then their next warning can include the part about The number of articles and the technical Rules if they chose to Replace the words anyway. If They think they actually are spell checking then they won't do it again after the above warning and we don't need to go on in a tangent about the tidbits of rules. However this template is a big change from before so I will wait a while before I remove it. Maybe we can move that text to a latter template because the latter ones are really wordy.--E-Bod 05:53, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Shorter is better--E-Bod 05:53, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
