[edit] The name of the place

Is Lanesborough-Ballyleague the correct name? On most small scale maps only the name Lanesborough and a place called "Ballyclare" just west of where Ballyleague is reputed to be. Also, I never heard the place called anything except Lanesborough until I came across this article. OSi maps give "Baile Atha Liag" as the Irish name for Lanesborough; not as a separate place across the river. That fact that they are two seperate parishes would bnot make them seperate "villages". There are two different towns with different names. The western town, Ballyleague is always called that by all the locals. The name Ballyclare has in the past been on some maps, but it seems to be an area about 2km west of Ballyleague. Many maps don't include the name Ballyleague because it has a smaller population than Lanesborough. Similar issues arise in Killaloe - Ballina (BopSmart 21:01, 29 September 2007 (UTC))
