From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lantern Theater Company is a Philadelphia not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 1994 by Charles McMahon and Michael Brophy. Since its founding, Lantern Theater Company (the Lantern) has been a leading producer in Philadelphia of innovative productions of the classics, modern and original works. In 1996, the Lantern moved into its current home at St. Stephen’s Theater in Center City, where its productions attract an audience of over 12,000 each year from the greater Philadelphia region. Beyond its own walls, the Lantern brings theater into the classrooms at underserved schools throughout the area, including Horace Furness High School (located in South Philadelphia) and Parkway Center City High School.

Lantern Theater Company has earned notable praise from both audiences and theater critics, and has been repeatedly recognized with the renowned Barrymore Award for Excellence in Theater, including 6 nominations for the recently completed 2006-07 season. The 2007-08 season marks the fourteenth in the Lantern’s history and includes the plays:
