Languages of Akrotiri and Dhekelia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Akrotiri and Dhekelia, are the Sovereign Base Areas of the United Kingdom on Cyprus. There are around 14,000 people in the Base Areas. English is the main language spoken by the British soldiers in the Bases, which make up about half of the population. Greek Cypriots, who speak Greek, make up the other 7,000 people in the Bases. Many Cypriots who do not live in the Bases work there, so there is, at times, a larger Greek-speaking population than at other times.
