Langebaanweg

Langebaanweg is a town on the southwest coast of South Africa, in Western Cape Province.
The site of an air force base, Langebaanweg is an important mining center, with its chief minerals consisting of phosphorites, primarily calcium phosphate.
Scientists have discovered fossils in the area that date from the late Pliocene Epoch, and are approximately 2 million years old. Fossil species found there include invertebrates and also a type of rhinoceros, as well as a mousebird and a diving petrel.
