Langa oni
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Langa Oni is a traditional dress worn by unwed young women in India. It is also called as two-piece saree or half saree or Paavadai Davani. It is mainly worn in the states of Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh.
It comprises a langa or Lahengaor Pavadai and an oni or Davani, a see through fine cloth which is draped diagonally over a choli.
A variant of this is Gagra choli of North India.
Langa oni today is worn only on festival days, especially made of silk, or some traditional functions like Pujas etc., because Salwar kameez has become a regular dress of choice that unwed girls prefer to wear nowadays.
