Lanesville is a town in Franklin Township, Harrison County, Indiana, United States. The population was 614 at the 2000 census.

Lanesville is located at [3]. Its elevation is 699 feet above sea level.

The town was founded by the surveyor General Lane. The town has a festival that is unique to them and has been going on since 1975. It is the Lanesville Heritage Weekend.
The settlement at Lanesville was actually in existence prior to Lane's arrival. The area was originally settled by a group of settlers headed by John Harbison that moved into the area c. 1807. Lane did however survey and platt the town proper thereby lending his name to the settlement. There were also members of the Pennington Family living in the area as early as 1790.

As of the census[1] of 2003, there were 618 people, 219 households, and 184 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,527.5 people per square mile (592.7/km²). There were 259 housing units at an average density of 644.3/sq mi (250.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 94.53% White, 0.49% Asian, and 0.98% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.49% of the population.
There were 249 households out of which 34.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.0% were married couples living together, 12.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.1% were non-families. 25.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 2.98.
In the town the population was spread out with 26.1% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 42, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 11.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 86.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.2 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $54,219, and the median income for a family was $57,031. Males had a median income of $36,875 versus $23,214 for females. The per capita income for the town was $18,914. About 2.6% of families and 2.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 0.5% of those under age 18 and 3.6% of those age 65 or over.

Lanesville is home to the Lansville Eagles high school basketball team, which won its first sectional in 2006, then its first regional in 2007 (eventually falling to Barr-Reeve in the Class 1A Seymour Semi-state on a last-second three-pointer in overtime). Lanesville is famous for Heritage Weekend, a festival held on the second weekend of September.
