Lanesboro is a borough in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 588 at the 2000 census.

Lanesboro is located at 41°57′48″N, 75°34′55″W (41.963293, -75.582034)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.6 square miles (6.8 km²), of which, 2.5 square miles (6.6 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²) of it (2.67%) is water.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 588 people, 248 households, and 149 families residing in the borough. The population density was 230.6 people per square mile (89.0/km²). There were 278 housing units at an average density of 109.0/sq mi (42.1/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 97.79% White, 0.17% Native American, 1.53% Asian, 0.17% Pacific Islander, and 0.34% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.68% of the population.

There were 248 households out of which 29.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.2% were married couples living together, 8.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.9% were non-families. 33.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 25.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 3.04.

In the borough the population was spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 24.5% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 20.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 80.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 75.5 males.

The median income for a household in the borough was $27,727, and the median income for a family was $34,844. Males had a median income of $30,750 versus $20,577 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $13,873. About 9.7% of families and 19.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 17.3% of those under age 18 and 28.3% of those age 65 or over.
