Land Warfare Resources Corporation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Land Warfare Resources Corporation or LWRC, formerly known as Leitner-Wise Rifle Company, Inc., is a CAGE defense contractor and firearms manufacturer, founded in 1999, and based in Springfield, Virginia.[1] From 1999 until January 2006, the company was primarily engaged in R&D activities. In January of 2006, the company was purchased in a Management Buyout by Army Veteran Pat Bryan, the Chairman/CEO of LWRC. After the reorganization the company moved into full fledged firearms manufacturing, also located in Springfield, Virginia. Along with the management buyout, LWRC absorbed Grenadier Precision Ltd. Company of Texas.[2]
The company produces several weapons based on the AR-15 and M-4, which utilizes a proprietary short-stroke self-regulating gas piston system and bolt carrier/carrier key design, similar to the HK416.[3] This system prevents trapped gases from contacting the bolt carrier or receiver of the weapon, which reduces the heating and carbon fouling of the internals; simplifies field maintenance, and improves reliability.[4][5]
Three segments of the successful Discovery Channel show "Future Weapons" were filmed featuring LWRC's weapons. Weapons featured were the M6A2 PSD, 7.62 NATO SABR, and the Infantry Automatic Rifle.
