The land run of 1891 was one of several opportunities for homesteaders to claim 160 acres of land. Once they claimed the land, they had to live there for five years and make improvements. They also had to pay a filing fee of five dollars.
An Oklahoma land run was featured in the 1992 movie Far and Away.
