Land O' Lakes is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pasco County, Florida, in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the CDP population was 20,971. The city grew rapidly during the 1990s, growing from 7,800 residents to 20,971. The city is still growing rapidly as new housing developments are built; according to city estimates, the city has a population in 2007 of 30,250 residents. A new master planned community is being built in Land O' Lakes with approximately 8,766 homes, shops and restaurants, schools, and many franchises. It is expected to be a community of approximately 20,000-25,000 residents and will help Land O' Lakes to grow even more explosively.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 20,971 people, 7,646 households, and 5,979 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,126.5 people per square mile (434.9/km²). There were 8,257 housing units at an average density of 443.6/sq mi (171.2/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 93.61% White, 2.11% African American, 0.26% Native American, 1.33% Asian, 1.20% from other races, and 1.50% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.75% of the population. The subdivision of Carpenter's Run was used for filming Edward Scissorhands, which has been the only real use this town has had in the past 18 years.[3]

There were 7,646 households out of which 39.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.0% were married couples living together, 9.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.8% were non-families. 16.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.73 and the average family size was 3.08.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 27.3% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 32.1% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 98.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.3 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $56,789, and the median income for a family was $60,721. Males had a median income of $41,593 versus $30,735 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $23,230. About 3.4% of families and 4.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.1% of those under age 18 and 4.0% of those age 65 or over. The city is known to many as the "Nudist resort Capital of the World"[4] with 7 resorts, including the famous Caliente Resort & Spa and Lake Como Club
