Lancer (TV series)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lancer is a 1968-1970 Western television series on CBS, which starred Andrew Duggan, James Stacy, and Wayne Maunder as a father and two sons, a kind of darker and more complex version of the more successful Bonanza on NBC. Stacy appears as half-Mexican gunslinger Johnny Madrid Lancer while Duggan plays Murdoch Lancer, a less wholly admirable patriarch than Ben Cartwright (Lorne Greene) of Bonanza, and Wayne Maunder, formerly George Armstrong Custer on the ABC series Custer, portrays Scott Lancer.
Guest stars included Warren Oates, Sam Elliott, Bruce Dern, actor/director Ron Howard, Dub Taylor, Cloris Leachman, Stefanie Powers, and Joe Don Baker. Paul Brinegar, formerly the cook Wishbone on CBS's Rawhide, also appeared as a series regular for part of the duration of the show. Lancer lasted for 51 hour-long episodes shot in color. The program was rerun on CBS during the summer of 1971.
