[edit] Character

Lance Smart was one of the original Summer Bay residents. He lived with his mother, Colleen Smart, in the Caravan Park run by The Fletcher family. Lance was known for not being very bright, and easily led by best friend Martin Dibble, whom Colleen didn't take too kindly to him hanging around with.

Lance had a brief relationship with Bay resident Marilyn Chambers.

In 1990, Lance left the bay for the Army and wasn't seen for ten years. During his time away, viewers learned via Colleen that Lance had since married and had a daughter.

Lance returned in 2000 for Sally Fletcher's 21st birthday celebrations and helped the bay out in crisis when a typhoid scare had hit the town. Debbie, Lance's wife and Colleen had never really seen eye to eye but as the years went on they began tolerate each other a bit more.

Since then Lance returned for Big occasions including; Sally's non-wedding to Keiran Fletcher and her real wedding to Flynn Saunders and The Summer Bay Sesquentenary celebrations.

Lance returned at Christmas 2006, for his mother's nativity production.

Lance is set to return in 2008 after discovering Colleen's dark secret
