Lance Cottrell is the designer of the version 1 Mixmaster Protocol and the original coder of the Mixmaster anonymous remailer starting in 1993, which he wrote while pursuing a PhD in Astrophysics at UCSD (which he never completed). He is the founder and president of Anonymizer, the self-proclaimed world's oldest and best-known Internet privacy company started in 1995.
Anonymizer Inc. was acquired by Abraxas Corporation in April 2008 after which Lance served as Chief Scientist of both companies.
He has appeared in dozens of interviews on radio, TV, and in print, as well as speaking at numerous conferences.
