Lana Trotovsek

Lana Trotovsek was born in 1983 to a family of gifted musicians in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She started to play the violin when she was five and soon showed her great talent, sense for beautiful sound and phrasing. She first studied with Primož Novšak and Volodja Balzalorsky at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, and later on was discovered by Ruggiero Ricci, who invited her to study with him in Salzburg (Mozarteum). During her studies at Trinity College of Music in London, she studied with Vasko Vassilev, Boris Brovtsyn and currently, Rivka Golani. During her studies she has beening guided by Ivry Gitlis, Ruggiero Ricci, Pierre Amoyal, Gyorgy Pauk,Tasmin Little, Pavel Berman, Lev Guelbard, Rudolf Gahler and Igor Ozim. She is reguraly performing as a soloist, chamber musician and is also leading orchestras (TCM Symphony Orchestra, TCM String Ensamble, Metropolitan Symphonia). As a soloist she has performed with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra,RTS Symphony Orchestra(Belgrade), the Hungarian Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Four Seasons from Moscow, Symphony Orchestra of SGBS (School of performing arts and music in Ljubljana), Baroque Ensemble Vox Aurae from Italy and the String Ensemble of TCM in London. She gave recitals and apeared as a soloist in Teatro la Fenice Venice, Mozarteum Salzburg, Vienna Konzerthaus, St. John's Smiths Square, St. Martin In the Fields and elsewhere in major venues in the Continent. Lana is the recipient of numerous awards and prizes, both in her native country and the United Kingdom, from which is worth mentioning the New York Friends of TCM Prize and the Solo String Bach Competition. In Slovenia she is the recipient of the highest award for arts of all universities in the country, the "Presernova Nagrada", a distinction to be awarded only on very few occasions. Lana is a member of the famous The Greenwich Trio together with a Croatian cellist Stjepan Hauser and Japanese pianist Yoko Misumi. Trio has been described by legendary cellist Bernard Greenhouse as the new "Beaux Arts Trio". Trio is a2008 winner of Solti Foundation Award. These three phenomenal talents joined forces in August 2006. Since the very start, their breathtaking chamber music making has gained the unanimous appraisal of audiences and critics. The trio won both the first and the audience prize of the Cavatina Chamber Music Competition, a result that was followed by a series of highly praised concerts all around Europe. They are the current holders of the first prize in the Trinity Laban Chamber Music Competition, and of the first and special prizes at the International Chamber Music Competition in Candelo, Italy. The Greenwich Trio receives now regular coaching from legendary Bernard Greenhouse, and has received coaching from Deniz Gelenbe, David Kenedy, Martino Tirimo and Rivka Golani, and master classes from Bernard Greenhouse (Beaux Arts Trio), Ivry Gitlis, Klaus Maetzl (Alban Berg Quartet), Wihan Quartet, Israel Piano Trio, The Schubert Ensemble, The Rosamunde Trio, The Arman Trio and William Aide. Highlights from the year 2008 include concert in St. Martin in the Fields and performance of the Triple Concerto with conductor Barry Wordsworth.The Greenwich Trio counts itself as one of the most energetic, passionate and refined trios of the music world, with performances that have taken by storm audiences in Germany, Italy and the USA.
