[edit] What are the dark patches?
This is a great image but I don't see any explanation of the dark patches. A lot of the North of Wallonie is dark and there are dark patches on the larger cities in Flanders. What do they mean? --Gronky (talk) 16:04, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
Blingiual areas in the 8th century. It is in de explanation of colours. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.163.180.208 (talk) 12:43, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Bilingual areas? So what languages are we talking about, since modern Dutch and French didn't exist back then, and how is this geographic distribution from the 8th century known so precisely? --Lamadude (talk) 20:19, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
In Flandres they spoke Dutch (dialects) but the higher and official institutes then spoke French. Also the rich chique part (elite) of the population in Flemish cities. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.163.180.177 (talk) 20:06, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
