[edit] Commercial use of Image:HDA.jpg
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:HDA.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:HDA.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).
If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.
This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:HDA.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 10:17, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Duplicate images uploaded
Thanks for uploading Image:Y-gogen.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Yamaguchi2.jpg. The copy called Image:Yamaguchi2.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.
This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 18:03, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image tagging for Image:P4260004.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:P4260004.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Notability of law firms
Hi, I noticed you have been creating articles on law firms. The ones I have looked at have no reliable secondary sources in the articles. The primary reason for requiring these is to confer notability to the article subject. Do you know of any newspaper articles or books about these companies? What I'm looking for is something written directly about the companies. Cheers Kevin 01:00, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Kevin, hi
This is Lamro. Yes, I have started several stubs on law firms. My sources of information are my own experience of dealing with them or their official web-sites. I have added links to websites to all the stubs except for defunct firms.
As for Lord, Day & Lord, there are links to two articles in Internet. Plus I used information from a cool book 'Lions in the Street' by Paul Hoffman.
Cheers, L
Kevin, I have upgraded my stubs.
- I have seen the added links in those. Are there any newspaper articles or journal articles that could be added as references? That would make it much clearer that they pass the notability criteria at WP:CORP. Cheers Kevin 07:11, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Done. Sorry for doing wrong things. I am a novice wanting to contribute :) I will add more references to my other stubs too.
Cheers, L.
[edit] DIP Financing
I am going to change DIP Financing from a disambig to a redirect. If I missed something, or you are going to add other links, then please feel free to change it back. Disambigs are normally only used where there is more than one page that might be relevant. Dolive21 14:44, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
OK

[edit] Duplicate Image:Debevoise.JPG
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Debevoise.JPG, by Staeckerbot (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Debevoise.JPG is a duplicate of an already existing article, category or image.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Debevoise.JPG, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 18:29, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Cadwalader.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Cadwalader.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 18:34, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Linklaters
Hi, thanks for finding some sources for this article. However, it is best to reference individual statements or sections, rather than placing them in the external links, so that it is clear which source has informed which statement. Could you have a go at that? The Wikipedia guide to Citing sources may be useful. Give me a shout, too, if you need help! — MapsMan [ talk | cont ] — 20:35, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] belated welcome
Welcome...
Hello, Lamro, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome! Foggy Morning 02:54, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
You might find Wikipedia:Footnotes especially helpful. Don't confuse References with External links! See WP:EL for guidelines on external links. The References section in each article should list all sources used for information in the article. All information should be sourced for verification. Keep in mind that Wikipedia does not usually use self-published sources -- see WP:SPS. Thanks again for your contributions! --Foggy Morning 02:54, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] The Game (film)
Hi Lamro. As far as I can see, you are a relatively new user and seem to have done a few naughty things in a short space of time (especially with pictures)!
I have tagged the trivia section. As such, trivia sections are undesirable on Wikipedia. As the tag says, you should try to integrate the info into the main text of the article. You could mention the BMW and the Mark Cross as product placement within the film. But then, why continue further advertising for these companies?
I deleted the items I considered entirely irrelevant, buzt will leave them in now. (I'm not looking for an online argument!) You may find however that someone else will come along and remove or integrate these trivia items!
The item "Consumer Recreation Services seems to be an international company with presence at least in London." appears to be correct, but is only conjecture! In any case it should read "... with a presence also at least in London". This could definately be integrated into the plot summary, for example.
BTW, please use the user talk page (discussion) for communication and not the main user page! This is usually found directly after the link to the user: "user_name (talk|contribs)"
Have fun with Wikipedia! TinyMark 18:40, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Edit summaries and references
As a courtesy to other editors and as a summary of your own changes to Wikipedia, please fill in the edit summary box on your GUI. Near the top of your Wiki screen is a my preferences link. If you click on this, then click on the Editing tab, you'll see that you can check a box so that you'll get a warning if you forget to add an edit summary. You should check this box. You've been editing without edit summaries for many months,[1] even though you've been asked politely to add these summaries. Please provide edit summaries with your future edits.
Also, again, please note that any information that you add to Wikipedia that cannot be verified can be deleted at any time -- especially biographical information on living people. You've already been asked to provide your sources, so I'm adding a some warning messages here...
Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to Michael Lewis (author). Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add your original reference to the article. Contact me if you need assistance adding references. Thank you.
Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did to Financial ratio. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.
Your contributions are appreciated, but it would be very helpful if you would review Wikipedia's policies and guidelines before making further edits. Thank you! --Foggy Morning (talk) 00:28, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Sorry if I am wrong. I will improve. As for Michael Lewis (author), I didn't change the content, just redacted the list of books.
- The edit summaries look nice! Here are couple of other things you should always try remember to do...
- Before you save your edits to Wikipedia, use the Show preview button at the bottom of your GUI to preview the changes you've made. You can keep making changes and clicking the Show preview button to see the changes. After you've made multiple changes to one article, you can save them all as one edit with one edit summary. If you look here,[2] you can see a series of edits that you made one right after another. That makes the article's edit history difficult to review.
- When you leave a comment on a talk page, you should always sign it by typing four tildas or by clicking on the Signature button on your GUI. This puts your username after your words.
- The Wikipedia:Tutorial explains these things and many others. If you spend a few minutes reading that, you'll improve quickly. Thanks again for your contributions! Happy editing! --Foggy Morning (talk) 21:51, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Initials and spaces
Hello. Would you please not move articles like H. G. Wells to H.G. Wells, or H. P. Lovecraft to H.P. Lovecraft. The spacing is somewhat of a disputed point, and in any event, there ought to be a redirect from the other version. See Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (people)#Initials for a long discussion. [edit] Spamming
Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. IrishGuy talk 01:06, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bower & Gardner
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Bower & Gardner, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}

Hello Lamro, welcome to Wikipedia. You have made substantial edits to the Weil Gotshal article, but you have not followed the Wiki policy of providing a factual reference to substantiate your edits to the page. Remember, we have no way of knowing that you have any basis to know any facts about the firm;,that is why wiki has a policy requiring a reliable source to back up an edit. I'm giving you the opportunity to substantiate your edits regarding your entries such as (list of Community Service),(list of Recognitions and Rankings) (list of Practice Areas) ,(list of Key People) , (list of Notable Deals and Cases) before I delete them. Thanks, and if you have a question or comment please feel free to comment on (My Talk page) where I have been tracking Weil Gotshal article vandalism and I'll have an entry for this topic: "Provide a reference for Weil Gotshal edits or they will be deleted" Knowsetfree (talk) 17:37, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Salans-logo.JPG)
Thanks for uploading Image:Salans-logo.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:18, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Cravath-logo.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Cravath-logo.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 08:23, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy deletion of Lions in the Street
A tag has been placed on Lions in the Street requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Ged UK (talk) 19:56, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] History of private equity and venture capital
Lamro, I recently added an article on the history of private equity and venture capital and noticed you have made a fair amount of additions on the subject. I would appreciate it if you spend some time with the article and would welcome any suggestions.
Separately, I noticed you had some issues with images. I believe it is preferable to upload new versions of an image in the same location, rather than creating a new image and switching the reference in the article. By doing so this may leave the original image orphaned. Thanks.Urbanrenewal (talk) 22:26, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
