[edit] Confused

Hello LamontCranston, You left an angry message on my talk page but you didn't say what article you were complaining about. I cannot find any article which we've both edited and your comments don't reflect anything I've edited. What are you talking about? Are you sure you've got the right person? Perhaps you meant to write to User:Spoonman.au instead of me. User:Spoonman 24 June 2007

.au...d'oh! My mistake.

[edit] Eskimo

"If you're trying to learn everything you possibly can, then you should probably know that the Yupik & Inuit do not particularly like the name 'eskimo'."

It's interesting that you say the Yup'ik don't like the name Eskimo, especially when it's written on their tribal council ID cards and they say they are technically Yup'ik Eskimo. Knowmoore 09:36, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
And have you checked with the Inuit? Likely what they mean by "they say they are technically Yup'ik Eskimo" is simply breaking the term Eskimo down into the two groups it is used to represent.

[edit] Indonesia / Papua/ New Guinea

Hey there, Nice to see you pop up on Western New Guinea. Yeah--the Indonesia pages have a strong pro-state, pro-Indonesian state, pro-US-state bias. "Economic growth", "stability" , and "democracy" are left in an unexamined condition. Many of the pages are written with help from US State Dept and CIA web pages (duly cited). Anyway, nice to see you show up. Hope to catch more of you. Peace, Don --Smilo Don (talk) 14:28, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Project chanology

A tag has been placed on Project chanology requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit] Western New Guinea

What? What occupation? Irian Jaya is definitely part of Indonesia, more than Hawaii and Alaska to the U.S.A. Indonesia never occupied Irian Jaya. It's an inseparable part of Indonesia. Different culture and ethnicity had nothing to do with it. IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN, GRENADA, that's occupation.

In Harmonia Progressio! 16:33, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Huh? Am I justifying the act because I am justifying US invasion too? No, USA occupied other nations, Indonesia never occupied Irian Jaya. So I don't think USA's acts were justifiable. Twist my words once more and you'll get nothing. Indonesia, client state of USA? Well I bet the people here will tell you something VERY different! And USA people are wondering WHY the world hates them so much... I'll tell you, it's because USA are arrogant in some aspects... Don't get me wrong, I don't hate USA more than my fellow countrymen do, but I could see the reason why they hate USA! You need to come to the field to tell it accurately. Have you ever visit Irian Jaya? I was, and I dare to say that foreigners provoked them to gain their independence, so they could control resources there more comfortably. But Indonesia is the country with great history that you'd never imagine. Our motto, Unity in Diversity, isn't for nothing. You know nothing about us.

In Harmonia Progressio! 16:21, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

And I didn't expect more understanding from a people whose country were created by immigrants, as you will never understand why many different cultures could blend WITHOUT FORCE. I see your country's unifying history was full of war. Natives were slaughtered, Civil Wars, annexation of other independent country's territories...

And you showed once more that you know nothing about Indonesia. You know nothing. You don't know how our unity could work in diversity. You say Indonesia were ran by force. You don't know the reality. You're the typical all-talk and all-gloating American.

[edit] Project chanology

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Project chanology, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). [edit] AfD nomination of Project Chanology

I have nominated Project Chanology, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Project Chanology. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Yamanbaiia(free hugs!) 23:07, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Update: The result of the AfD was "Keep.", per WP:SNOW. Thanks for initially having the thought to create the article in the first place. Cheers, Cirt (talk) 08:34, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Heh, Epic Fail. Kinda hollow victory though, Anonymous appears to be losing interest LamontCranston (talk) 12:33, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
On Wikipedia we generally keep our gloating to ourselves. After all, the ostensible goal of the activity of each of us is to built a better encyclopedia. We just sometimes disagree on how that should be done or what that encyclopedia might look like. It is not a competition. --JustaHulk (talk) 16:33, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Gloating? Nah, that must just be your interpretation. It was an attempt at WP:HUMOR. Cirt (talk) 18:58, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

I dunno Lamont, I don't think they are slowing down quite yet, there's lots of buzz in blogs and media sources. We'll just have to wait and see what happens, but I'd have to say to Be Very Wary of the 10th of February (Seems to be the catchy slogan they've decided to run with). Cheers Lamont, thanks again for getting this article on this notable topic started in the first place. Much appreciated. Cirt (talk) 19:35, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
