LaMenta3 is the online alias of Hillary Lipko, a Public Policy undergraduate at Georgia Tech.
The main focus of my studies and academic research is technology policy, particularly as it applies to privacy and security issues. I am also doing minor studies in law and computer science in support of this. My areas of interest and editing on Wikipedia, however, typically have little to do with any of this. I'm pretty much an omnivorous editor—I'll work on pretty much anything that even slightly piques my interest or seems like I could easily improve. A large portion of my significant contributions arise from AfDs which are (improperly) nominated for surmountable problems such as style and sourcing. I also occasionally abuse the Random Article button to waste time when I should be doing something else (you know, like actual work or something).
One of these days, I'll get around to writing a couple of essays that have been clunking around in my head for awhile. One will probably amount to a diatribe about what I feel are continuing misconceptions about and abuses of the AfD process that are hurting the project. The other is about the ideal use of Wikipedia as an educational tool and why nearly all educators, regardless of their views on Wikipedia, have got it all wrong. One or both will turn up in my userspace in the next decade. :)
