Formed in 2002 in Malmö, Sweden, Lamont began to become known in their home country in mid-2007. Their first album, Golden Daze, was made available by the band for free via download in November 2007. The Pirate Bay, a very popular BitTorrent tracker based in Sweden, featured a prominent link on their homepage on November 2nd that led to a page with a music video and links to torrents of the album in several file formats (mp3, ogg, flac) exposing them to a worldwide audience. The band's own website links to the mp3 torrent on The Pirate Bay.
