Lamberto Gardelli (born Venice, 8 November 1915; died 17 July 1998, Munich) was an Italian conductor.
Gardelli was considered a specialist in the works of Giuseppe Verdi, and made several recordings of his operas in the 1960s and 1970s, especially many of the neglected early ones which came before Rigoletto in 1852. These included Alzira, Attila, Stiffelio, I masnadieri, Ernani, Oberto, and Un giorno di regno as well as more well-known later works such as La forza del destino.[1] [2]
He also recorded Giordano's Fedora with Magda Olivero and was a mentor to several noted sopranos, including Lucia Aliberti and Sylvia Sass, with whom he made the recording of Stiffelio.
Gardelli held posts as chief conductor of the Munich Radio Orchestra and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra.
