Lama Karta (Kagyu Karma Tashi Gyalsay Jinpin Chogyi Lodo Pal Zangpo), born in Cho Drak in eastern Tibet, was one of the main lineage holders of the Bah Rum Kagyu, a school of Tibetan Buddhism.
A recording of the Lama's voice chanting has been described as "natural basso of a rare quality, supple and having a great range." Lama Karta was the grandfather of the Venerable Lama Shedrup, of New Zealand.
