Lalla Latifa Hammou
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lalla Latifa Hammou is the widow of a late king Hassan II and the mother of Princess Lalla Meryem, King Mohammed VI, Princess Lalla Asma, Princess Lalla Hasna and Prince Moulay Rachid.
Born Fatima Hammou but called Latifa (to avoid confusion with the king's other wife, the former Lalla Fatima bint Qaid Amhourok)[citation needed], Lalla Latifa is the daughter of a senior Berber notable of the Zaiane tribe. She married Hassan II in 1961.
The king's wife and mother of the royal heirs had no royal title, even though her sister in-law Princess Lamia Solh (King Hassan II's brother's wife), was given a royal title. Instead, Lalla Latifa Hammou has been known as the Mother of the Princes.
