[edit] How to add your photo to a wiki article

My apologies if this is not the best place for this but I know a helper will direct me to a more appropriate forum. I would like to help others and to help myself by being able to write the article on How to add your photo to a wiki article. I can compress an image, and upload it, but at the moment that is as far as I can take it. This is for images from cameras which people are prepared to place in the public domain. I have read and tried but to no avail. The furthest I got was to create a link to my photo; it did not get imbedded in the article. I know the instructions are there somewhere, deep in the many pages of detail. I would like to have and write (or provoke the writing of) the BRIEF SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS for embedding a picture in a wiki article. I look forward to being experienced and useful and being a helper myself. Garrison Roo

After you upload the photo, it should give you a link that you can use in your wiki articles. What was the name of the image file that you uploaded? (e.g. "Lakemba_main_street.JPG"). It might make it easier to help us find it for you. Also, did you upload it to the commons, or just to the wikipedia? -- All the best, Nickj (t) 01:41, 5 September 2005 (UTC)its a nice town

[edit] SydneySuburbs and compass directions

For SydneySuburbsBox2, what do we define by "near"? E.g. bordering, or do we include subjects a few suburbs away? If the former, I'd be tempted to remove Punchbowl, Mount Lewis, Belfield, South Strathfield from that list. In between strathfield south is belfield and belmore, so that'd be a 3-suburb away "near"-ness, which imho is stretching it? Also, I'd associate Belmore as north-east rather than south-east, greenacre as north-west, south strathfield as north, belfield north east, e.g.

Lakemba
Suburbs around Lakemba:
Greenacre South Strathfield Belfield
Punchbowl Lakemba Belmore
Wiley Park Roselands

Though that still makes it look like south strathfield is right next to lakemba even though it isn't... which is why I asked the first question. So ideally it would be something like this:

Lakemba
Suburbs around Lakemba:
Greenacre Belmore
Lakemba
Wiley Park Roselands

but that looks quite empty. So is the implementation of sydneysuburbsbox2 being discussed anywhere? Blu3d 10:16, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Personally I'd say get rid of it altogether because it isn't very applicable to Sydney's non-geometric suburb boundaries. --Garrie 01:27, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Also - check out Suggested Suburb Skeleton

it gives excellent structure for a suburb page, including a nicer version of the suburb box (yeah, nicer == POV)--Garrie 01:29, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lakemba Mosque name and Imams?

Am trying to find details for Lakemba Mosque article. Seems its proper name may be the "Al-Imam Ali Mosque" and its Imams are Yahya Safi and Hilaly. See [WP:Talk:Lakemba_Mosque] for more details if interested. Anyone here got more references for this? SmithBlue 09:56, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Demographic Data Added from 2001 Census

I added comprehensive data — from the 2001 census — relating to birthplace, home language and religion. I am planning to add this data to each suburb in Australia as I get round to it. Unfortunately, I cannot work out how to add references. The data I quoted for Lakemba derived from [1] and I would be grateful if anyone more proficient than myself could add this reference to the article. Thanks. 193.61.177.95 21:26, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
