I am not aware of any Armenian tradition of there being a monster living in the lake. This makes the story a likely candidate for a modern hoax combined with wishful thinking.

The sightings of the creature also coincided with a period of rapid rise in the water level of Lake Van (it went up by at least 3 metres). It is possible that what was being noticed were merely the bodies of drowned farm animals. 81.76.37.150 01:24, 13 October 2006 (UTC)


It was not known if the creature was evil or not and many locals believed it was sent by Allah to relieve the area of it's large Jewish population

I'm not sure what to make of the above sentence, it seems like it could be getting at something valid and interesting, but as it is seems unencyclopedic. John.Conway (talk) 19:37, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
