[edit] Alumni

Should Principal Dave Thomas be listed as an alum? He graduated in 1986, and in the early 1990s he came back as a teacher, became an administrator, and is now principal. 72.83.145.163 (talk) 04:08, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Main Hall

Doesn't the ludicrous length of the main hall warrant mention? Those sevies and eight-balls had to walk a long way to get to gym class.71.63.86.153 (talk) 01:05, 23 December 2007 (UTC)wouldn't know

Problem is, with renovation the middle school is now next to the cafeteria and the gym. Maybe the hall is worth discussion, but no longer because of the distance middle schoolers have to walk. 71.126.138.251 (talk) 23:28, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:LBSS.gif

Image:LBSS.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Alumni

Why do on air staff members from local radio station WJFK keep being deleted? The rationale used by the latest editor is that "being a local dj does not constitute being notable." So being a local celebrity does not make one notable? I don't see how that makes any sense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.48.116.135 (talk) 02:50, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

You ask if being a local celebrity makes a person notable. Basically, no; not just by itself. The article at Wikipedia:Notability (people) outlines the rules for who should and shouldn't be included. This is what it says for entertainers:
Actors, comedians, opinion makers, models, and television personalities:
* With significant roles in notable films, television, stage performances, and other productions.
* Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following.
* Has made unique, prolific or innovative contributions to a field of entertainment.
Also, in general:
A person is presumed to be notable if he or she has been the subject of published secondary source material which is reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject.
Bret Oliviero, with exactly zero Google results, probably doesn't fit either of these categories. Chris Kinard, as the director of the show, maybe. But you have to prove it; find some reliable sources saying he's notable. If, for example, you found a source saying he has a significant cult following, that would qualify him for notability. FlamingSilmaril (talk) 23:30, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I just realized I made a spelling mistake in Bret Oliverio's name when searching for him. Upon further consideration, he might be notable too, but you still need reliable sources. Again, sorry about that. FlamingSilmaril (talk) 23:34, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] "Calling Incident"

I think we should shy away from including the Kory incident in the article, and I feel we should remove the link to the video. 72.66.125.52 (talk) 02:27, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I was none too comfortable with this either. It should at least be reworded from "national media attention" to something a little less sympathetic towards him (and the video should probably be removed too). FlamingSilmaril (talk) 14:52, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

"a little less sympathetic towards him"?? are you kidding me. who exactly should it be sympathetic to, the wife or the administration. exactly why should the incident be excluded from the page, the whole point of wikipedia is to provide information, that incident put Lake Braddock on the map for better or worse. and exactly how are people saying that its non-notable??? are either of you fcps admins by any chance? the story had a bigger spot on the front page of the washington post than heath ledger's death! exactly how is that not notable. national media attention is in no way a biased phrase, it carries no connotation. and the least you can do is sign the name correctly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.163.158.29 (talk) 03:47, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Yes... it was notable then. But can you find a single mention of it in the past few days? No? Well then there ya go. FCPS admin? Far from it. Queerbubbles | Leave me Some Love 13:12, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

I haven't seen William Howard Taft's name mentioned anytime recently either, lets go ahead and delete his page too then. If something was national news for a span of 3-4 days, was covered by CNN, The Today Show, The Early Show, Good Morning America, and countless local syndicates, are you honestly going to tell me that just because the story isn't news right now that it didn't matter? discosuperfly | Queerbubbles is a tool 13:12, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

I have left a message on your talk page regarding your personal attack in your signature. I would suggest changing it. Queerbubbles | Leave me Some Love 21:44, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] LBTheater

Since there is special mention of the musical accomplishments, shouldn't Mirabal's accomplishments be noted as well? The drama program is an award winning one... Queerbubbles | Leave me Some Love 17:05, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Why isn't it mentioned? Well, because nobody's added it yet. If you want to, go ahead. If you see something that should be added, by all means go for it. You seem to know more about this than I do, certainly. FlamingSilmaril (talk) 21:01, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
Added... feel free to throw in anything that I left out or sounds awkward. The page needs some reorganizing, though. Queerbubbles | Leave me Some Love 11:34, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Awards

It seems as though all mentions of awards and accomplishments were removed from the article over time... which I dont believe is appropriate. Using Plano Senior High School (an FA) as an example, you see that the awards for the various programs are stated. They shouldnt read as a laundry list, sure, but we can figure out a way to work it so that it doesnt sound like bragging. I dont see any reason why these acomplishments shouldn't be in the article. Other pages get to show off their shinies... and so should LB. Queerbubbles | Leave me Some Love 13:56, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Basically, the problem isn't whether the information is present, it's how it is presented. For something a littler closer to home, look at the page for Westfield, which lists all the specific state sports championships that they've earned, with a year and sport for each. A vague statement like "the Orchestra has won many Superior ratings at festival" or worse, "the Orchestra wins Superior at festival every year" isn't as informative. You also need to cite sources for the awards. Going back to the Westfield example, it includes a link to the VHSL record book that lists all the state champions going back a long way. Basically, this page should not read like the "About Us" section of a school's website - it should read like an encyclopedia article. I hope this clears some stuff up; if it doesn't, feel free to ask. FlamingSilmaril (talk) 14:11, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
