Talk:Lake Biwa
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The article says the lake was designated a "World Heritage site". This seems to refer to Unesco's list of heritage sites but it does not appear on List_of_World_Heritage_Sites_in_Asia_and_Australasia#Japan. Ramsar sites are usually referred to as "Ramsar sites".
Also, I removed reference to the Ramsar Convention's 1971 conference, because it duplicates existing information not directly related to the lake, and more importantly, as given the date appeared to be the date of designation as a Ramsar site. That's apparently not the case.

Regarding "Unesco Ramsar wetland": it looks like UNESCO was a participant at Ramsar but would a Ramsar site be called "Unesco"? A-giau 21:43, 15 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Expansion
I wonder if it's feasible to create a section on references to the Lake in traditional fiction? I'm sure it must be famous for poems, for ukiyo-e prints, for mentions in gunki monogatari, or the like. LordAmeth 08:06, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
