Lakshmipuram (Pudhupatti) is a village in western Tamil Nadu in India. It's one of the Hi-Tech village where no one can see a hut or house made of asbestos sheets. All basic facilities are available at almost to each and every home's door-step. It is in Theni district situated on the foot hills of Kodaikanal hills. It is nearer to Kumbakkarai Falls. Other tourist places places nearby are Suruli Falls and Munnar.
The most famous festival here is Pongal [different from jan 14th common pongal of Tamilnadu] which will be celebrated in a grand manner in its own traditional way for 5 days which includes SIRAPPU, an unique festival where one can see all the people of the village gathering at a particular place at foot of the hills.
A court has been recently built at Lakshmipuram. It is on the main road that connects Theni with northern Tamilnadu.
The nearest railway stations are in Theni, Dindukkal and Madurai.
Almost 85% of the people in the village dependent on farming. The main crops are Sugarcane, Maize (seasonal) etc. Farming involves making Jaggery from the sugarcane the process involves boiling the cane juice still it loses all its water content and the liquid is allowed to solidify. The other interesting one here is the rearing of Emu birds there are several farms that rear this bird that are used for medicinal purpose.
