Laksam is located at 23.2472° N 91.1278° E . It has 88063 units of house hold and total area 429.34 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^[1], Laksam has a population of 513119. Males constitute are 49.42% of the population, and females 50.58%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 237152. Laksam has an average literacy rate of 34.4% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[2]shakil mahmud

Laksam is the junction on the Bangladesh Railway for [[Chandipur, Bangladesh|Chandipur] laksham rail station was biggest junction of bangladesh but after developing komolapur rail station it lost its position.Now it is second largest junction of this country with it's 400 acr land.One can go every where of the country through this station.
