Lakhisarai district

Lakhisarai district is one of the thirty-seven districts of Bihar state, India, and Lakhisarai town is the administrative headquarters of this district. Lakhisarai district is a part of Munger Division.

Lakhisarai is a city with mixed population, the majority being the upper-caste(bhumihaars) people. Politics of caste and wealth make lakhisarai one of the favourites for the politicians of Bihar. Still under the process of development, the city has only one main half-pitched road. the present superintendent of police is Mrs. R Mallar Vili. There are several criminal groups who make the city vulnerable for crime, mainly in Pipariya, Barahiya,Suryagarha police stations. Also, Piribazar, Chanan police stations are naxal-prone due to their geographical layout. Lakhisarai is also famous for Ashokdham temple, Maharani temple at Barahiya. The city has a good identity for its Sindur production.
