Lakhisarai is a district of Bihar well connected by road and rail route. It is situated on Patna-Howrah main line passing through Kiul. NH-80 passes through the district. Agriculture is mainstay of the district. Barahiya tal of the district is famous for pulse growing. This tal is saucer shaped land extending to thousands of hectare. It remains inundated with water during July-Sept .

Ashok Dham is located at a distance of about 7 km from the district HQ. A very big shivlinga was found here when a boy named Ashok was digging the earth while playing. At the place now exists a marvelous temple. It is about 1 km from a very nice village Balgudar having a couple of young doctor, Dr. Gourav (gen surgeon)& Dr. N.Priya (gynaecologist).
Barhiya is famous village of Bihar, located in Lakhisarai.Maharani-sthan is a beautiful temple situated on the bank of the river Ganges in Barahiya. People from Lakhisarai actively participated in India's Freedom. Some very know person such as, Late Jageshwar Mahto(from Arma village), Late Jaydev Narayan (from Sharma Tal Village). Jaydev Narayan and Mahto had prominently participated in 1942 Quit India movement and other programmes of freedom struggle under Mahatma Gandhi. Other than River Ganga, Kiul and Haruhar river is also part of Lakhisarai. Actually Lakhisarai is on bank of Kiul river. Haruhar river is in Lakhisarai tal area, where some villages like Sadaybigha, Babhingava, Balgudar, Sharma Tal are situated. From Barhiya village there are very few famous doctors such as Dr. Vijay Narayan Singh. Tal area is now participating in globalization. From small village like Sharma Tal people are working with Global Organization such as British Telecom (BT). Dinkar Kumar from Sharma Tal is working with BT in UK,London. Anurag Saurabh Alias Kundan S/o Dr. R.P. Sinha who're Dental Surgeon at Sub.Divisional Hospital spent 13 years at Lakhisarai now working with top MNC IT company as a Senior Engineer(Software)in Mumbai. Sourabh kumar, a resident of lakhisarai naya bazar is now working with LSI,US based company in bangalore. Rohit kumar his brother, He is second officer in merchant Navy.
Shringi-Rishi Dham & Jalappa sthan are also two beautiful sites to visit.
