Lakeside Middle School, commonly referred to as Lakeside, is a middle school in Irvine, California, serving the central part of Irvine, including the neighborhoods of Woodbridge, Westpark, and Oak Creek. It is part of the Irvine Unified School District. Its school mascot is the Mariner. It has approximately 800 students (2007). It is still debated if the sixth grade will be added to Lakeside.

Lakeside is a Nationally Recognized Exemplary School, California Distinguished School, and IUSD Computer Network Demonstration Site. Circa 1997-1999, through the efforts of webmasters Brandon Friend, Max Cudich, and Alexander Knot, with assistance from Lakeside LAN Admin. Alan Simsovic, it was one of the first middle school to offer a fully-functional and dynamic website.[citation needed] This website can be viewed at: www.iusd.k12.ca.us/la

Lakeside sponsors a variety of competitive academic events for its students, including Science Fair, Pentathlon, Outstanding Inventions, and History Day. Lakeside regularly out-performs all other IUSD schools in the County History Day program, most notably Rancho Middle School, which also participates. Lakeside's Pentathlon team has also achieved greater recognized success than any other Middle School in Irvine.
