Lake Tippecanoe is a large, glacially-created lake in Kosciusko County in north-central Indiana and is the deepest natural lake in the state, with depths of 120 feet, but reported to be in excess of 180 feet in certain places. Public access is available on Grassy Creek, a tributary that connects it to several smaller lakes upstream. Several other access points exist (with nominal fees) at Patona Bay Resort on the west shore, near Tippy dance hall on the SW shore, Tippecanoe Boat Company on the NE shore, and Plaza Marina (as it used to be called) on the SE shore. The lake is drained by the Tippecanoe River which flows generally south to the Wabash River.
Lake Tippecanoe is used mostly for recreational purposes such as fishing, boating and skiing and is surrounded by residential housing. A prominent historical location is situated on the SE shore of the lake; Tippy Dance Hall. Once a traditional concert hall which hosted acts such as Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, and the 60's act The Byrds, Tippy Dance Hall is now a teen dance club with Saturday night dances held from Memorial Day to just after Labor day.
