Lake Range

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lake Range is a mountain range located in western Nevada in the United States. It is entirely in Washoe County, and the southern two-thirds are in the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation. The ridge runs north-south for approximately 35 miles.

To the south is the Mud Lake Slough, which used to connect Pyramid Lake to Winnemucca Lake. To the north is the San Emido Desert. To the east, Winnemucca Lake separates the Lake Range from the Nightingale Mountains and the Selenite Range. To the west, Pyramid Lake separates it from the Virginia Mountains.

The principal peaks of the Lake Range are (in order from north to south) Wildcat Peak (5724 feet), Tohakum Peak (8182 feet), Pyramid Peak (8101 feet) and Cui Ui Peak (6348 feet).

The Lake Range is the site of the final skirmish of the second battle of the Pyramid Lake War.
