[edit] History

The lake formed following the damming of Smallpox Creek in 1974.[1] Smallpox Creek is one of many tributaries of the Mississippi River.

[edit] Geography

Lake Galena receives its water from a watershed about 10,340 acres (42 km²) in size and is located at an elevation of about 715 feet (218 m).[1][2] It encompasses an area of 220 acres (89 ha) and with a 7 miles (11.3 km) shoreline.[1] It is located within a private development of Galena known as the Galena Territory.

[edit] Use

The lake is mostly used for recreational purposes including boating and fishing. The lake is managed by a private corporation and the Galena Territory manages a marina located on a shore of the lake.[1][4] The eighth hole on the Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa's North golf course crosses a corner of the lake.[5]
