Sheriff Gary S. Borders

The Lake County Sheriff's Office is largest law enforcement agency in Lake County, Florida, United States. Per the State of Florida Constitution, the sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer of both the incorporated and unincorporated areas of the county. The current sheriff is Gary S. Borders who was appointed by former Governor Jeb Bush following the death of Sheriff Chris Daniels in 2006. In November of 2007, Sheriff Gary S. Borders led the agency to be awarded with a certificate of accreditation from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation.

Sheriff Borders is currently serving the remaining term of Chris C. Daniels. He is currently pursuing his Criminal Justice Administration degree. Sheriff Borders began his career as a corrections officer with the Osceola County Sheriff's Office. Prior to his appointment as Sheriff, he served as Chief Deputy of Criminal Justice Operations at the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
