Lake Afton Public Observatory is an astronomical observatory which opened in 1979 through the cooperation of Sedgwick County, the City of Wichita, Kansas, Wichita State University's Fairmount Center for Science and Mathematics Education and the Wichita Board of Education USD #259. At the heart of the observatory is 16-inch telescope. It is located nine miles from Cheney, Kansas near Lake Afton. The observatory offers programs for the public on weekend evenings throughout the year.

It is located at 25000 W. 39th St. South on MacArthur Road, near Goddard, Kansas. It is open during the summer Friday & Saturday 9:00 - 11:00 p.m.
