Lake Afrera is a lake in northern Ethiopia. Located in the Administrative Zone 2, it is one of the lakes of the Afar Depression. According to its entry in Lakenet, it has a surface area of 100 square kilometers.[1]
It is also known as Lake Giulietti, after the Italian explorer Giuseppe Maria Giulietti, who was slain by Afars near the location of the lake, although this body of water was not known to Europeans until long after his death in 1929.
