The Square in front of the Parliament building is currently (October 2006) the scene of a permanent demonstration against the coalition government which, under the premiership of Ferenc Gyurcsany, took Hungary into the EU without fully exploring -- and explaining to the people -- the full consequences of this committment.
It is feared that foreign powers will be enabled to take the very land from under the feet of the people.
