Lajas is a municipality and city in the Cienfuegos Province of Cuba. It is located in the northern part of the province, 35 kilometers (22 mi) west of Santa Clara and immediately south of the Carretera Central highway.

In 2004, the municipality of Lajas had a population of 22,602.[2] With a total area of 430 km² (166 sq mi),[1] it has a population density of 52.6/km² (136.2/sq mi).
