[edit] Literal meaning
Article needs literal meaning of province name, and Han Tu. Badagnani 07:27, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- The name in Han Tu is not necessary. Vietnamese government and people don't use it. An Apple of Newton talk 15:13, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
No, it's not necessary for modern use but very useful for etymological and historical purposes, in order to have a contextual understanding of Vietnamese history (these characters were used to write Vietnamese historical documents for thousands of years). Without it, one is cut off from one's own written history and the meanings behind one's own toponyms. Badagnani 02:00, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Both the Nom Foundation and Chinese Wikipedia give 萊州. But the translation doesn't seem to make sense. What is the etymology of this toponym? Badagnani 02:02, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
