As of the census of 2001, there are 6,681 people and 1,929 households residing in the municipality. The population density is 0.76/km². The density of households is .22/km². The racial makeup of the municipality is Black African 2.23%, Coloured 82.95%, Indian/Asian 0.13%, and White 14.68%.
