Lai Chun-kit

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lai Chun-kit 黎震傑 (born 1982) was the chairman of the Council of Hong Kong Federation of Students and Hong Kong Polytechnic University Student Union. He is one of the students who are banned from visiting mainland China.

He is being criticized for interfering with the freedom of speech of the non-representatives of the federation. Many students were angered with him as they thought he abused the power given by the "HKFS constitution". Some students even called his term "the reign of terror in HKFS". In a meeting, after Lai and the representatives disallowed a student from Hong Kong University to talk, he refused to apologize to that student.

As chairman of Polytechnic University Student Union, he suggested the students to boycott lessons in 2005 after the Legislative Council passed the Financial Budgetary and Expenditure Bill. The government then agreed to make a concession.

Lai resigned in 2006 after being accused to be involved in a finance scandal, in which the PUSU withdrew its support to him.
