Lahser High School

Lahser High School is a high school in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Opened in 1967 with 60 students, it now has almost 3000 students. The school was named a national exemplary school.[citation needed] Over 98% of its graduates attend college after graduation.[citation needed] The school is also known for its high MEAP scores.[citation needed] Over 85 percent of the student body is involved in a music class.[citation needed] Lahser has won several MHSAA state championships including: men's football, men's hockey, men's basketball, men's soccer, men's/women's tennis, women's lacrosse, and women's golf. Most of Lahser's students come from Bloomfield Hills and Bloomfield Township.

Lahser has three main types of music classes: Choir, Band and Orchestra.

Band has gone on to win many awards in music such as Division I ratings at MSBOA festivals, success at Solo & Ensemble, and achieving exemplary status at many festivals.[citation needed] They have also traveled to London, Disney World and New York.

Orchestra has also been very successful at past Traub ceremonies, festival and Solo & Ensemble.


Students in choir go to solo & Ensemble every year. These students may either compete as soloists or groups many have gotten top scores at this competition.

The Lahser Knightsingers have sung at the governors mansion and at the capitol.[citation needed] Tour locations have included New York, Austria, and Italy.

The Traub scholarship is a grant awarded to two students every year, one in music and one in visual arts. This grant allows the students to plan their own trips to Europe to study their favored area of the arts.

Many take the opportunity to enroll in AP Classes. There are over 30 AP classes available to students.

FOOTBALL: Lahser has had a successful football program. The 2006 Lahser football team was Academic All-State with the 2nd highest GPA in Division 3 in the state.[citation needed] The 2006 team was also a District Finalist. In 1982, 2002, and 2005 the football team went undefeated in the regular season. The football team was also League Champions in 1969, 1972, 1982, 1990, 1992, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2008. In 2007 the football team won its first state championship and in 2008 they won their second state championship.
