Hi, Im needing to use this image on the spanish version of wikipedia. Unfortunately I'm not able to use it unless it has a Commons Creative License (that's the politics of the spanish wikipedia project, dont ask me why!). Thanks in advance. --147.156.26.107 (talk) 18:38, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Um, what are you talking about? I'm looking through the Spanish Wikipedia right now and I see many GFDL images. Where does it say Creative Commons only? (Please link me to the Spanish page; I can read Spanish.) —Keenan Pepper 23:51, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply and sorry for the delayed answer. If you look in the spanish website about policy for usage of images, you'll read:
Aviso: Como consecuencia de una votación (véase Wikipedia:Votaciones/2006/Cambiar políticas y reglas de uso de imágenes), se ha decidido que las imágenes sean subidas exclusivamente a Wikimedia Commons. Adicionalmente todas las imágenes almacenadas en Wikipedia en español serán trasladadas a Commons, excepto las imágenes fair use, que serán eliminadas.
Which basically means they have decided only to use (from now on) Wikimedia Commons images. That means it is not enough to have a Creative Commons license, it is also imperative that the image is stored in Wikimedia Commons. I will really appreciate if you can do that to this image (and it will be cool too if you keep doing it with your other images ;) Thanks.

- Oh oh oh, I see what's going on. You're still misinterpreting that page a little. It says that all images used in the Spanish Wikipedia should be stored at the Wikimedia Commons, because no images are stored on the Spanish Wikipedia itself. (This is unlike the situation for the English Wikipedia, where images can be stored either at Wikimedia Commons or on the English Wikipedia.) However, this does not mean that every image you use must be found on the Wikimedia Commons already. In fact, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from taking this image I created and uploading it to Wikimedia Commons yourself. This image is already licensed under the GFDL, which is an acceptable license for Wikimedia Commons (in fact, it's one of the recommended ones). So really you don't need my help at all. You can just make a copy of this image and upload it to Wikimedia Commons yourself; the license explicitly allows that. —Keenan Pepper 14:18, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for making it so clear ;) --Felipebm (talk) 16:03, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
