[edit] History

Lae Bombers has changed it's name to LBC BOMBERS in 2006. Since the inception of the SP cup Competition in 1990, the LBC Lae Bombers are one of the most consistent and competitive teams to participate in the PNG NRL Semi Professional Competition. The Bombers in association with LBC as their major sponsor have been together since 1990 making the partnership the longest in the games history. The club being franchised in 2005 has a board that is made up of the sponsor (LBC) plus minor sponsors, supported by the coaching and the technical staff that manages and runs the club. LBC Bombers being known for their aggression in defense and speed out wide have produced some of the big names in PNGRFL representing KUMULS (National team) and also playing overseas. Because the club wants to maintain a higher level of standard, players are recruited all over PNG giving the team a mixed blend of players from the highlands to the islands. But bulk of the players are recruited from the local league (Lae Rugby League) thus the clubs taking part in the Lae Rugby League competition are known as feeder clubs to the Bombers team.

[edit] 2006 Season

It has been a long dry spell since wining the SP Cup in 1995. This year is said to be different with the signing of a new coach, Steve Davis from Queensland Australia and a huge recruitment drive with big buys including president 13 star players as in Mark Warua, Eki Ene, Dusty Mockly from Rabaul Guria and young Max Romanong a PNG /19 Kundus player, together with the regular season campaigners the club is looking forward for a bumper year this year.

Having the best sponsor (Lae Builders and Contractors) in the country and the most organized team nothing will stop the LBC Lae Bombers from achieving their ultimate goal this year, the prestigious SP CUP.
